Makeup Inventory 2014

Hello all!

Today I'd like to air my makeup problems, starting with the sheer amount I have. It makes me feel overwhelmed, especially as I do not wear makeup every single day, it takes up a lot of space and I feel like I wasted a lot of money buying all these products I still haven't used!

I have gotten rid of huge bags of makeup and beauty products but it seems never ending! I am officially on a no-buy beginning 1st January 2015, and it will end on 31st December 2015 so I am allowed to go crazy in 2016. I still have a lot of makeup and beauty and nail polish that I do not want, if you would be interested in a blog sale please let me know.

As I've slowly been trying to use it all I tend to find products that don't really work for me or I don't like the shade on me very much, I see no point in hoarding these products, I would only like to own what I am completely happy with using. Some have also gone bad, started to smell or taste odd and that's no good because I spent a lot of money on them!

Yesterday I was watching a lot of youtube videos on people trying to do the same thing as me, declutter and I decided to do a makeup inventory of my own.

I am definitely not showing off, or saying ooh look at me with all my makeup, I want to get rid of it and fast haha! I will by using it up or giving it away or trying to sell it, but I don't think anyone will want to buy it, I don't know.

I've linked a lovely lady who I started watching about a year or so ago, and her decluttering is what motivated me to make an inventory, I have been giving products away for years but never kept a tally on how many or how much money had gone down the drain.

Her youtube name is Faithersk and I definitely recommend you check out her videos especially if you're in the same boat as me!

So... onto the dreaded numbers! I have a lot of eyeliners especially, I don't have some products such as bronzers, but I don't really feel I need any. I have additions I'd like to make also, but these will be done in 2016 unless I feel it's necessary in 2015. This isn't 100% accurate, maybe about 98% as I left a makeup bag at my uni house, although I've tried to remember what was in there and add it on.

Ideally I think 100 makeup products is a large enough selection and ok to get through before the products expire. I would like to have more cream eyeshadows maybe but I would be concerned about not using them and them going off, I definitely don't want to waste any more money!

This is after giving away so many things so I don't think it's that bad, around 250 products but I would like to use up and give away around 150. I think eyeliners will be the easiest to use up and lip balm, some eyeliners I use as eyeshadow so I can imagine they'll be gone soon enough.

I've also made a little box where I put my daily products in so that should help use them up!

I didn't include nail polish, I have around 80 colour bottles, I would like to reduce this number obviously, maybe to 50 but I like all of the shades so will be trying to use them up, as I've already given away plenty.

I also haven't included tools, I'm going to leave that for now and will sort through brushes etc on a later date and add it on!

Thank you for reading my super long post, please let me know if you have any comments or questions, it would be great to hear from you.

Back to Blogging!/2015 No Buy

Hey everyone!

I'm sorry I haven't been around but with all the other fantastic blogs out there, I bet you didn't even notice!

I've decided to start blogging again but it will be sporadic as I'm still studying and always have so much to do!

The focus this time round is using up the ridiculous amount of products I have accumulated over the last 4 years, so plenty of empties, reviews and makeup inventories and downsizing.

I won't be purchasing any beauty products for the year of 2015 as I do not need them! I have so many, I may run out of shampoo or conditioner but if I am out it means I will buy a replacement.

It would be great if you were to follow me on this journey again!

Thanks for reading,

Nav x

EDIT: I will allow myself limited edition products, but will try my best not to buy!

6 Month Spending Ban

I know I've tried to do these before and have succeeded in none, but this time I am very determined and also poor! I will not be purchasing anything to do with beauty from 1st Jan - 30th June 2013. I have been stocking up and fulfilling my addiction in the sales so will post a haul soon but I shan't be buying anything new! I will post my progress in my monthly empties posts.

I spend an awful lot on beauty products, a lot of the time because at the time I think I'd like to review them, as I've mentioned before though living in two cities makes it difficult for me to be able to review products without them getting lost along the way. By not spending on beauty I'm sure I'll save a lot and use up a lot of what I already have! (I think I have enough shower gel to last me for 3 years...)

I've chosen to do this for 6 months as I know there will be a lot of new product releases and I will eventually have to buy something! I will be receiving Glossybox, but that has already been paid for this year and I will allow myself to buy something if I run out, e.g shampoo and conditioner. For some reason those are the only products I haven't got boxes full of!

I may try to extend this to an entire year if I manage the six months - although I imagine an extension would be very unlikely knowing myself...

Are you thinking of going on a spending ban for 2013? I'd love to know!

Complete Beauty Spending Ban: Update #1

It has now been over a month in which I haven't permitted myself to spend any money on beauty, this has been the case, but I have cheated and asked someone lovely to get things for me! - Occasionally. From now on I'm not allowing myself any beauty aside from the beauty boxes I receive, regardless if I pay for the things or my friends/family do!

I've been tidying up recently and I have no storage room left to put all the shower gels, body butters, hand creams, makeup, nail polishes or my beloved Urban Decay Eyeshadow Palettes. I feel as though I should continue with this ban until 12th October 2011 and then try to wean myself off completely. Or continue with it but not so officially, so the odd nail polish would be acceptable provided it's a colour I don't already own, (highly unlikely!) But I'm sure you get the idea. I've decided to list my monthly expenditure on beauty on a new page to embarrass myself into not spending so much. This will go up tonight and begin from today as well until 12th October. I'll also keep it going and update it every month to see how much I spend and try to cut it down for the following months.

It is very difficult to control my spending urges, especially when I see new releases, and are from brands I love. I also noticed my increased interest in fashion because I wasn't spending so much on beauty! (This really has to stop!)

Thank you for all your support, (and your tempting me with gorgeous new beauty items!) and I hope I can restrain myself from any new purchases for a month!

Complete Beauty Spending Ban!

As of today (Saturday 6th August 2011) I will be on a complete beauty spending ban aside from any subscriptions I have. I want to start saving up properly and when I do save up I'll feel better too. I also want to see how long all my beauty products will last me until I have to buy something again or I won't be able to shower or wash my hair or whatever!

I'll also be doing empties posts from August every month to see how much of everything I use up. I'm not going to treat myself either, I think I already have for an entire year.

I'd love your support and to see where I can go with this! I'll be posting my makeup collection soon too, and a few final hauls, so you know the amount I have and how long it'll last someone!

Thank you so much for reading! :)

Product Finishing Project

As regular readers of my blog will already know I am on a product finishing project, this initially started off as a Makeup Ban, which was so difficult to keep in line with so I came up with a better idea. For x-amount of products I finish I'm allowed x-number of products, (this was originally outlined in the Makeup Ban but I've now increased the number to finish.)

I have finished a few more products since my last post on this:

- Lush Twilight
- The Body Shop's Tea Tree Mask Sample
- Impulse True Love Shower Gel (250ml)
- Lush It's Raining Men Shower Gel (100g)
- Korres Body Butter Sample in Fig
- Superdrug's Tea Tree Facial Wipes (30)

I don't feel I've emptied enough containers but we'll see until the next post! :)

Makeup Ban - Another Update!

Hi!

As discussed in the NYX Cosmetics Sale Post I am now trying to use beauty items up in order to buy lots of new NYX things!

So far I've finished the following:

- Impulse Body Spray in "True Love"
- Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream
- Mini Sample of Clinique Full Potential Lips Glosses in "06 - Mimosa Blossom" and "08 - Play-Full Pump"
- Mini Sample of The Body Shop's Hi-Shine Lip Treatment
- Radox Shower Gel
- Pantene Shampoo and Conditioner (Ice Shine Collection)
- Boots' Cocoa Butter and Mallow Body Lotion

I said 15 things and here are 7, hopefully I can finish a few more in the next month and then go shopping! :)

Thank you for reading! :)

NYX Cosmetics Sale!

I was sent this in an email this morning and I nearly exploded with excitement! But...there's a tiny weeny problem with the amount I want to spend and want to buy from NYX!

It was certainly very exciting when I heard that they had an online store for the UK but as usual my pay packet is spent on food and makeup/skincare...

So, on line with my makeup ban, which has now turned into a "Product Finishing Game", I've decided that if I manage to finish 15 makeup/skincare products in the space of a month, I can treat myself to what I want from NYX! :D Every 5 products I finish I will do a post, to let you know how it's going!

This is going to be so hard, but it'll allow me to rediscover my ever-growing makeup collection too! To be a bit nice to myself I think including skincare would be wise too, because no matter how many times I wear the same eyeshadow in a month, it will not completely finish!

Thank you for reading :)

Hi all! :)

I'm very glad to say that I've finished more products from my makeup/skincare collection:

- Sanctuary Spa Body Souffle
- Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish Wand
- Blistex Massage Lip Balm
- Soap and Glory Hand Food Handcream

I'm so happy that I'm finally using products up completely and I'm near to finishing another few products too, as always I'll keep you informed :)

The Makeup Ban - Quick Update

I have now decided to ban myself from purchasing ALL beauty related items because the exchange hasn't worked out very well and I keep buying! :o

So now I'm waiting to finish a lot of products, so instead...no buying makeup products until 1st August 2011. I'm in need of a stippling brush and a foundation that matches my skin tone, so maybe if I do finish a ridiculous number of items I'll permit these purchases? Or ask my lovely boyfriend? ;)

I'll keep you updated with the progress! :)

Thank you for reading x

Happy March! :D

I cant' believe it's March already! Wow! I remember my New Year's Eve like it was yesterday...

Time goes really quickly and soon it'll have been a year on this blog! I know that I don't update as regularly as I would like to but I don't feel obliged to blog; I like to post when I feel like it and out of my own will. It's also very relaxing so I usually blog in the evenings or at night, this post being the odd one out of course.

I haven't had many giveaways yet because it's quite difficult to afford such expensive beauty products regularly, I know I'd like to have a lot more because they seem fun, please don't forget to enter my current one until 10th March here. Take a look at the prizes here.

I've also started using my makeup a lot more as opposed to hunting it down or certain items and just sticking it in a draw so that I have it and it looks pretty and organised. I think this is a major thing for me because I don't even have 5 seconds to spare in the morning and am constantly in a rush. I think this could be due to how little sleep I get and because of my love of staying awake at night, I don't actually think I'm an insomniac anymore - if I turned everything off I'm pretty sure I'd knock out soon.

I'm glad that I started my makeup ban on 1st February but unfortunately I haven't stuck to it in its entire form, I managed to haul some really pretty nail colours and a Clinique chubby stick, but I'm going to wait until I do finsih products until I can use them. I've finished a body butter at the moment, so still about 20 items to finish yet. The reason I wanted to finish them is so that I can try new things, I don't like to have a backlog of items and having such a large selection would mean that I wouldn't use all the items within the safe expiry dates and I dislike wasting things! I also hardly ever purchase the same product again unless I absolutely love it because I don't think the beauty industry allows for repurchasing to take place, because there are so many beauty products that I want to try everything.

The ban has also been a factor in me using up my products and making sure I put lotion on after my shower everyday and using my face cream at night because I know that if I finish it I'm allowed a new item, so my skin seems to have improved a little too!

I'm actually enjoying and hating the ban at the same time!

Anyway, thank you for following my blog, I really appreciate it, and it makes me feel appreciated too :)

Thank you for reading,

The 3 I finished:

This magically resulted in the following appearing! :o

The Makeup Ban... :/

Yes you read correctly...I have banned myself from all makeup, beauty, skincare, bodycare and haircare products.

Why? Because I have a ridiculous amount of everything already!

I've decided to save up for the better things in life and I shall permit myself to purchase makeup when there is a limited edition item that I've fallen in love with or is of very high value for money.

I also intend on reviewing every single item in my collection before I'm allowed to buy new things and using things up before I can buy new things. For every 3 drugstore items I finish I'll buy 1 item. However I'm not going to apply this to high-end products because I want to maintain a collection, I don't want to realise I have no makeup left at all! :/ That would be a nightmare...drugstore is also less expensive so I think this would be best to save money and feed the addiction at the same time if necessary.

I'll keep you updated on how it's going. At the moment I haven't finished any products but for every 3 small/drugstore ones I do finish I will post and tell you what I've bought in replacement! :)

This ban has started from 1st February 2011 and I hope to keep it up until 1st August 2011, for 6 months and then I'll review it. For high-end products I've decided I'll buy one when I finish 3 drugstore ones, so same thing :)

I have more than enough makeup/skincare/haircare/beauty to last me until then. Maybe not enough shampoo but I'll allow myself to buy that when needed!

Thank you for reading and please comment below if you have a similar addiction you need to control!
